Lohan Fights Drugs and Bulimia

Our American popular culture consists of self- image. Everyone is so worried about the way they look. Am I too skinny? Am I too fat? ... This brings me to an article I read in people magazine at work a couple weeks ago. "Lindsay Lohan fights drugs and bulimia" She believes she's considered fat compared to other pop stars. She wanted to loose weight, and admited to doing drugs. After she was in the hospital a couple times, she signed herself into a rehab center. I believe she left after two days. I chose Lindsay Lohan because some people can relate to her in way. They want to change the way they look so badly, that they are hurting themselves. AND IT'S CRAZY!

I selected this image because it shows how a series back from the 70s-80s has long story about it. I love Lucy was something that showed friendship, love, luaghter. and maybe because of this show most of the shows that we have today are based on this type of concept.

Relating to Popular Culture

When asked to select an image, describing popular culture, you must first find out the definition of popular culture. Many definitions can be found, but it is all a matter of opinion, of who you relate to, a fad you go through. If I was asked to choose an image that describes popular culture, I would choose a photo taken of Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio in Paramount's Titanic. Almost everyone can relate to the love story of Jack and Rose, and everyone knows the real tragedy of the Titanic decades before the film. In my opinion, this photo is a symbol of a bright, young love ready to embrace the future with arms wide open, only to be cut abruptly short by the cold, cruel ways of life. This picture and all pictures are created in hopes of drawing people in, so they can relate, in some way, they feel as if they are Jack or Rose, or even Superman, and they welcome what they are being handed, all because they can relate.

It's an event taking place right now thats a hot topic and creats opinions, thats why i belive global warming and this picture should be included. this picture is only one view point. The truth of the matter is global warming or climate change has invaded ours lives in many forms. Everything from movies such as The Day After Tommrow, Water World, and Al Gores: An Inconvient Truth to Weather Channel telling us that it's the first time it has not snowed in december in 113 years. thats why this picture should be included.
