In the passage "The Parable of the Democracy of Goods" by Roland Marchand, in my opinion the sentence that describes the entire essay is located in the second sentence in the 6 paragraph, "Only occasionally did such address those in the upper class who might think that thier status and 'fastidius' attention to personal care made them immune from common social offenses". The idea in the passage is that by convincing the middle-class consumers to buy a certain product, they would share the same experiences as the higher class, and therefore make the product sale more and be more succesfull.
